Setting description – from a given picture

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you some tips for how to write a setting description from a given picture. You’ll learn how to pick out nouns from the picture then build on these to create description with adjectives and verbs – these will help you describe the scene you have been given and make descriptive sentences.
Encourage your child to start by thinking of 10 nouns. Follow this up with matching an adjective to describe each noun, moving on to thinking of some verbs to go with the nouns and adjectives – without thinking this can easily become personification which means putting a human emotion to something that can’t have emotions. A top tip when writing setting description is to vary your sentence starters – don’t just start with ‘The’.
